Anomalous photomagnetoresistance

Anomalous photomagnetoresistance in modulation-doped heterostructures (1984).

Principal collaborator: Alex Kastalsky

We discovered a puzzling anomaly in photomagnetic properties of modulation-doped heterostructures: the longitudinal resistance increases sharply with the increasing concentration of carriers in the high-mobility channel under illumination. We explained this effect by a peculiar interplay between the longitudinal and the Hall resistance of the 2D electron gas and the parallel parasitic resistance of the wide bandgap layer.
