Biography

Sangjin Hong received his B.S. and M.S. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of California at Berkeley and his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. Since then he has been at the Stony Brook University - State University of New York, where he is an Associate Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering. He has previously worked as a systems engineer at Ford Aerospace and Communications Corp., as a technical consultant at Samsung Electronics Inc., and as a research fellow at the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor. His current research interests are in the areas of low power and low complexity VLSI design for multimedia wireless communications and digital signal processing systems, reconfigurable SoC design and optimization, VLSI signal processing. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of Eta Kappa Nu and Tau Beta Pi Honor Societies.

Research Interests

I pursue research in a range of topics related to low-power VLSI design of multimedia wireless communications and digital signal processing systems, including mixed-signal SOC design methodology and optimization, VLSI signal processing, digital and analog circuit design, and reconfigurable embedded systems design. My research is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the NY State Microelectronics Design Center, the NY State SensorCAT, Symbol Technology, and Microsoft Corporation, Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute (ETRI), and the Korea Minstry of Information and Communications.
