Outreach and Dissemination

The goal of the Outreach and Dissemination component is to promote the Sensor Consortium’s achievements through our Outreach Partners such as the Long Island Regional Incubator Council (LIRIC), Long Island Software and Technology Network (LISTNET), Suffolk County Department of Economic Development , Women Economic Developers of Long Island (WEDLI), and the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers), professional society such as the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). For local and government agencies, the Suffolk County Economic Development Department and the Empire State Economic Development will also support the Sensor Consortium in a similar manner. Our news, events, and achievements will be distributed to these organizations to be included in their newsletters and publications. The Sensor Consortium Web site has been established to increase the awareness of the Long Island population about the Consortium activities. We also plan to attend the ASEE (American Association for Engineer Education) to disseminate our result on the Technology E-Team Competition Program. At the end of the two-year project period, through the many activities, faculty and students of the four Education Partners will all be well aware of how a successful entrepreneur thinks about a problem and makes its technology solution the basis for a new business. It is our vision that the consequence of such awareness will translate into more patentable inventions, more startup technology companies, and more research and development projects in national security and medical sensor systems on Long Island. One of the functions of the outreach and dissemination component is to obtain entrepreneur-mentors and speakers for the Consortium seminars through our Outreach Partners.
